About Marine
Marine works with Samantha Runnion and is often seen in various locations in the office. He was born into the CARES (Canine Assistance Rehabilitation Education and Services) family on April 21st, 2017. He is a black Labrador retriever. When CARES names their puppies they come up with a theme for the entire litter. Marine's litter was the "things that are tough" litter. When he was 9 weeks old, he went to a prison in Florence, Colorado as part of an inmate program that trains dogs. He was at the prison until he was 9 months old. During his time at the prison, he was trained in obedience which includes over 30 commands. At the age of 9 months old he was placed with a college student in Iowa that provided Marine with socialization training while keeping up with his obedience training. He was placed with Samantha in June 2018 at the age of 14 months old. At that time Samantha participated in a 5-day training that provided her with all of the necessary commands and information to utilize Marine as a therapy dog in her private practice.
If, for any reason, you are uncomfortable with dogs and would prefer that he not be present when you attend your appointment, please let your therapist know and other arrangements can be made.
